Thumbs up cola was originaly established in 1977 because Coca cola was pulling out of India. Later when Coca cola company was re established in India they bought Thumbs up because it was so popular among Indians. Coke often buy competitors, I guess they once tried to convince Pepsi Co to sell the Pepsi.
When Coke changed the recipe and messed everything up this is what I drank. It's the closest to Classic Coke. I mostly went back to drinking Coke when they went back to Classic Coke but I still liked RC and drank it whenever I could find it until I developed diabetes and gave up full sugar sodas. It's funny but now I don't even like cola sodas
Price. If RC Cola is $0.10 cheaper, it would probably costs hundreds of millions in revenue to Coke / Pepsi to reduce their price to match. The amount gained in additional sales wouldn't be enough to do this so RC Cola has a competitive albeit small part of the market. 1.

Every cola has phosphoric acid listed as an ingredient, except (most) clear sodas, rootbeer, and Whole Foods cola. Stuff like Sprite is safe, but Crystal Pepsi is not -- it contains phosphorus, as listed in the ingredients. So you always have to be careful.
Pepsi because coke is a little too sweet and upsets my stomach. I think coke has a lot more carbonation. However, I drink caffeine free diet pepsi regularly and I prefer that to cfd coke because cfd coke tastes more like it's using saccharine which I've never liked plus it also is way more carbonated than cfd pepsi. 2.
