The only problem I have is War of the Ring Mode. Do you believe I am still waiting to win a war? I start quite good, usually I use Men as a faction of choice, then things get worse, really really worse and they defeat me. All of that said, two of your concerns are real. One, War of the Ring is at its best as a 2-player game. I would not play it 3-player. Second, the rules are detailed and complex. Every time I pick it up after a few months away, I have to refer to the rulebook a few times.
