Road Test Review When Yamaha introduced the FJR13000 to the United States for 2003, for sport-touring riders it was a second coming of sorts. Gobs of smooth multicylinder power had the potential to rocket this comfortable, fully equipped mile eater past the competition, with 26,000-mile valve service intervals to boot. It wasn't perfect, but all of the first FJR's glitches were easily fixed

Kawasaki 1400gtr review the latest big touring bike from kawasaki is fast but flawed.. Both amazing bikes. Represent the best of the bang to the buck in the used market. But which makes a better everyday bike? Dec 13, 2001. Oddometer: 2,216. Location: Nashville, TN. I have owned a BMW RT and an FJR. If you're doing super long distances, the RT is the better mount. If you're stuck in traffic, the RT is the cooler (heat wise) for sure. My FJR would damn near boil the gas.

Tall suspension allows me to stretch my legs out while riding. Just sitting on the ST and C14 makes me think that ergos for the 3 go like this: ST: best. C14: middle. FJR: torture rack. But i'm interested in opinions from tall people on the 3 bikes, and any other input from tall people.

According to a report on Moto Revue, Yamaha are looking at taking on the Kawasaki 1400GTR in a big way by launching an updated FJR – the FJR1400 – towards the end of this year. Apart from its 1400cc inline-four, the new FJR is expected to get bits like the latest-generation anti-lock brakes, traction control and a semi-automatic gearbox The FJR-1300 looks more promising but the saddlebags seem sort of small and the riding position has more weight placed on your wrists, it also has less wind protection too from what I can tell. Right now, it's a toss-up between the Concours 14 and the BMW R1200RT, but unless the Connie is priced a fair bit lower then the R1200RT, I'd pass and There are a lot of choices in this class, three (four) good entries being the Yamaha FJR1300ES and 1300A, BMW R 1250 RT and the Kawasaki Concours 14. It’s true that the Kawasaki is older than European FJR's have a much higher cruise control set limit. The bike has been around for 10 years, Yamaha has continually tweaked it. Gen III has flawless throttle by wire (unlike the super touchy one used on the K1600), some engine components have been changed for a more efficient operation. But even though the K-bike has a 59cc deficit, it spun out more horsepower (141.1) on the CW dyno than did the Concours (133.6), with the Kawi making a little more peak torque (88.7 ft.-lb. vs. 86.0). .
